Justice Department Declines to Pursue Civil Rights Case Against NY and Other States for Nursing Home Deaths

July 26, 2021 by helpdesk1

The Justice Department’s Legislative Affairs Office has reportedly declined to open any civil rights violations at nursing homes in New York, and three other states. Local assemblyman Colin Schmitt says the Biden administration is letting New York Governor Andrew Cuomo off the hook, and called it “disturbing and highly suspect”…

The investigation by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn and several others are reportedly ongoing. According to the Albany Times-Union it is one of at least five separate continuing investigations of the Cuomo administration. There’s the sexual harassment investigation; his $5 million book deal; his administration’s data reporting on nursing home policies; and alleged preferential COVID testing for his family members and others.
