A state Supreme Court judge has dismissed a challenge to the Rockland County Legislature’s new redistricting maps, and they’re set to go into effect January first next year. Ramapo resident Mike Parietti, a member of the group “Preserve Ramapo” and a former Congressional candidate, calls the judge’s decision “ridiculous”…
The new county legislative districts were created based on the results of the 2020 Census. Each district contains approximately the same number of people. Parietti had claimed the new maps were unconstitutional, that they disenfranchised non-white voters, broke up communities, and aided incumbents’ chances of winning re-election. Parietti predicted he would be vindicated on appeal.
