House lawmakers passed a package of six spending bills yesterday, sending it on to the Senate to handle and pass ahead of Friday’s deadline to avoid a partial government shutdown. Rockland Congressman Mike Lawler of the 17th District told “The Morning Show” last week it is critical that the government stay open…
Lawler said yesterday’s bill includes almost $36 million in “Community Project Funding” for 17 projects across the Hudson Valley, including 1.25 million dollars for the Rockland County Sewer District, 8-million dollars for the Town of Ramapo Safer Neighborhoods Project for improved sidewalks, $800,000 for the Town of Haverstraw’s “Streetscape Improvements Project,” 1.5 million for improvements to a stretch of Route 306 in the Village of Kaser, and a million dollars for improved bus shelters and three commuter transit buses in the Village of New Square. The Senate still needs to pass it and then send it off to the president for his approval. Lawler says another project, which would assist with flooding issues in Clarkstown, is expected to be funded in-full in the next appropriations package.
