Hudson Valley Police Departments Getting Reimbursed for Helping in 4 year-old Drug Case

January 25, 2024 by Jeff Lewis

Several Hudson Valley Police departments, including two in Rockland County, are getting millions in reimbursement funds from the feds after helping take down a criminal pharmaceutical company. In a statement, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer said The Rochester Drug Cooperative brought in opioids including oxycodone and fentanyl from 2012 to 2019. Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny says her police department is getting $1.6 million for their efforts in working on the case…

The Rockland Sheriff’s Department got $1.8 million, while Westchester County, Yonkers, the Putnam County Sheriff, New Windsor and Woodbury also got a portion of the $16 million the company had to pay. They were originally supposed to pay $20 million, but the company went bankrupt.
