“Higher Risk” Sports Get Authorization to Proceed with New COVID Safety Precautions

February 1, 2021 by helpdesk1

Seven Hudson Valley counties, including Rockland, have authorized “Higher-Risk” sports — both scholastic and non-scholastic — to proceed starting today. These activities include football, wrestling, ice hockey, rugby, basketball, competitive cheer/dance, and more. Rockland assemblyman Michael Lawler says he was pleased to see the department of health respond to proposed legislation and create new COVID safety guidelines late last month to let the kids play…

Each school district can proceed at their own discretion. Parents, coaches, and athletes will need to affirmatively consent to participate in their sports and understand the risk of potential disease transmission.
