The town of Haverstraw has its sights set on a brand new park for a 25-acre piece of land near Helen Hayes Hospital that it bought for a dollar years ago, and they need your help in figuring out what to put there. Supervisor Howard Phillips says they already have a general idea of what’ll be there…a multi-purpose field for all sorts of sports, exercise equipment, a dog park, and more, but he says the public can offer their opinions about what else it may need…
The land is bordered by Central Highway and Chapel Street. Phillips says phase one of the $7 million project is covered by grants and money that’s been set aside by the town over the years. The town still needs county and state environmental approvals and get a contractor before work begins early next year. The informational meeting is being held Monday at 7pm at Haverstraw town hall.
