Haverstraw K-9 Gets Drug Sniffing, Crowd Control Training; Ramapo K-9 Takes Down Wanted Man in Sloatsburg

October 21, 2020 by helpdesk1

Haverstraw’s new K-9 unit graduated earlier this month from the Orange County training facility. Haverstraw supervisor Howard Philips says K-9 “Karma” is peaceful when you meet him, but don’t get on his bad side…

Karma is partnered with Haverstraw officer Mike Vigiletti. To graduate, “Karma” had to learn drug sniffing, crowd control and more.

Over in Ramapo, their police K9 “Blue” helped catch a wanted Vermont man earlier this week. On Monday, “Blue” reportedly helped catch the unidentified 43-year-old suspect who was in a wooded area near Sterling Mine Road in Sloatsburg. The man had two warrants out of New York State Police in Brunswick. He was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and being a fugitive from justice.
