GOP Straw Poll Pits Long Island Congressman Against NY Governor Cuomo

July 6, 2021 by helpdesk1

A former Westchester County Executive didn’t get much backing last week from other Republicans who decided a Long Island Congressman is their guy to run for governor of New York. Lee Zeldin was selected as the GOP’s “presumptive nominee” in a straw poll that gave him 85% of the vote. Rob Astorino got just 5%, and 10% of the Republican leadership didn’t even vote. At the moment, governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to run for a fourth term.
