A former Rockland gymnastics coach, currently jailed on prior convictions, has been hit with another charge of sexual abuse. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh says 71 year-old Joseph Lewin was arraigned last week on one count of “Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree.” Walsh says it’s alleged that between 2012 and 2015, Lewin sexually abused a girl under the age of thirteen while serving as a gymnastics coach at his gym in the Village of Hillburn. He was first arrested in May 2018 for allegedly abusing at least seven children between 2007 and 2014. He’s been affiliated with several facilities including “Joe’s Gym” in Hillburn, “The Gym” in Suffern, “Universal Gymnastics” in Spring Valley, The “Mini Gym” of Pomona, and “Mania” in Stony Point. He is due back in court on October 18th.
