“For Sale” Sign Removed from Stony Point Boy Scout Campground

December 6, 2021 by Jeff Lewis

It looks like the town of Stony Point won’t have to worry about a local Boy Scout Camp being put up for sale. The Rockland County Executive’s office says the Boy Scouts of America’s Greater Hudson Valley Council Board has decided not to sell Camp Bullowa, meaning the scouting program can continue there. Town Supervisor Jim Monaghan recently said it looked like there wasn’t much interest in the property outside a local group…

Two other camps in the Hudson Valley were being considered as part of a package with Bullowa. Dutchess County’s Camp Nooteming in Salt Point will still be sold, while the Durland Scout Reservation Campground in Putnam Valley will not. The Boy Scouts of America organization is looking to unload various properties around the country to help pay nearly $2 billion in legal settlements with the Victims Compensation Trust stemming from thousands of lawsuits as part of a bankruptcy deal.
