Following Hand Recount, One of the Last Races, 99th Assembly District, Nears End

December 12, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

While it hasn’t been announced officially just yet, it appears Democratic Assembly candidate Chris Eachus will hold on to his slim lead following a hand-count in the race for the 99th Assembly district, which includes Stony Point and parts of Orange County. It’s one of the last undecided races. The former Orange County legislator ran against Woodbury Councilwoman, Republican Kathryn Luciani. Last week Eachus led by less than two dozen votes. The winner replaces Colin Schmitt, who lost in his bid for Congress against former Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan. The 99th Assembly District covers Stony Point and several areas in Orange County, including New Windsor, Woodbury, Monroe and Harriman.
