Elective Surgeries Cancelled, More Hospital Beds Needed in NY

As the number of coronavirus cases state-wide jumped to more than 15,000, and 455 of them in Rockland, the governor is looking to boost the number of medical facilities available. Governor Andrew Cuomo said part of the plan is to cancel all elective, non-critical surgeries starting Wednesday…

Cuomo wants to set up temporary hospitals at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Westbury and the Javits Center. Cuomo said he also wants to re-purpose buildings such as hotels and nursing homes as temporary hospitals.
