Effort to Legalize Pot in NY Could be Losing Steam

Though the governor wants it done, New York State may not get a marijuana bill done before the legislative session ends next month. Governor Andrew Cuomo originally wanted it in this year’s budget, but when concerns over its implementation came up, it was put off and the deadline shifted to mid-June. Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco says he’s glad the legislature seems to be considering the concerns that public safety officials have over legalized pot…

Rockland State Senator David Carlucci says though some questions persist, regulation is preferred, to having pot remain illegal…

If New York does legalize pot it would become the 11th state in the nation to do so. A similar initiative in New Jersey failed earlier this year.
