New York voters have two primaries this summer. The June 28th primary covers the candidates for New York governor, lieutenant governor and State Assembly races, and early voting starts this Saturday. You can vote at town halls in Clarkstown, Ramapo, Haverstraw and Orangetown, The Rho Building in Stony Point, the Fire Training Center in Pomona, and the Pascack Community Center in Nanuet. The August 23rd primary will cover congressional and state senate elections, and early voting for that one starts August 13th. We have a link to the list of candidates here.
Meanwhile, a new poll suggests the New York governor’s race will come down to a contest between the incumbent Governor, Democrat Kathy Hochul and Congressman Lee Zeldin, a Republican. According to the poll from Emerson College, PIX11, and The Hill, Hochul has the support of 57 percent of Democrats, with Long Island Congressman Tom Suozzi garnering 17 percent and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams trailing with just 6 percent. Zeldin leads the GOP field with 34 percent, followed by former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino with 16 percent, Harry Wilson, a businessman and former member of the Obama administration’s Treasury Department, he’s got 15 percent, and political advisor to the Trump administration, Andrew Giuliani, the son of former New York City Rudy Giuliani, is in fourth place in this poll with 13 percent.
