A Dutchess County man faces a stiff federal civil penalty after being caught with a loaded handgun at a TSA checkpoint at Stewart International Airport earlier this week. The TSA says the unidentified Poughkeepsie man’s gun and five bullets were detected by the X-ray machine and were immediately confiscated. The man told officials he forgot he had the weapon with him. The TSA says civil penalties for bringing a handgun into a checkpoint can cost a violator thousands of dollars, depending on the circumstances.
