Two rallies are slated for this afternoon at the same time, and the same place in New City, by a pro-Palestinian organization and supporters of Israel. The former, called “Rockland for Ceasefire,” is demanding an end to the Israeli bombardment of Gaza. They also want charges dropped against a 15 year-old, whom they identify as Palestinian-American, who is accused of stealing an Israeli flag from Clarkstown town hall last month. They’re also requesting Israeli flags be removed from all County buildings, though there haven’t been Israeli flags flying at county office buildings at all, that according to Rockland County Executive Ed Day this morning. Meanwhile, an unknown group is encouraging those who support Israel to show up in the same location at the same time. Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco told “The Morning Show” last Wednesday it wasn’t clear just how many people might show up this afternoon…
The rallies are set to take place today at 3pm outside the County Office Building in New City. “Rockland for Ceasefire” also plans to march to Clarkstown Town Hall.
