Cyclists Pushing for Bike Path to Connect Sloatsburg and Bear Mountain

March 6, 2019 by helpdesk1

Cycling enthusiasts are hoping to get a pedestrian-bike path to help them enjoy the entire 18-mile length of Seven Lakes Drive between Sloatsburg and Bear Mountain. The road in Harriman State Park is interrupted by the Route 6 traffic circle, which is off-limits to pedestrians and cyclists. Mike Benowitz of the Rockland Bicycling Club says a bypass would encourage runners, cyclists and hikers to enjoy the area’s beauty even more…

The Palisades Interstate Park Commission has asked the State DOT to put aside $3.1 million to help build the Palisades Trailway Bike Connector. Rockland State Senator David Carlucci supports the project. If you’re interested in showing your support, you can sign their petition posted on Change.org, and we have a link to it right here.
