One of the main topics during the New York governor’s debate Tuesday night was crime. Long Island Congressman, Republican Lee Zeldin, hit Governor Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, on various crime issues, including bail reform, cashless bail, and promised to remove Manhattan’s D-A for his refusal to prosecute several crimes. Governor Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, pounded Zeldin for failing to vote for sensible gun reform measures, on his position on abortion and his support of former President Donald Trump. Rockland sheriff Lou Falco, also a Democrat, believes Zeldin is more likely to be tougher on crime…
Zeldin criticized Hochul for failing to do enough to keep New Yorkers from being “pushed in front of oncoming subway cars” while Hochul called Zeldin weak on gun reform, noting that “There is no crime-fighting plan if it doesn’t include guns.” According to a recent Quinnipiac poll, 28 percent of likely voters ranked crime as their number one concern.
