COVID Death Count Rises Again in Rockland But Other Numbers Fall, Sparking Optimism

January 20, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

The county’s COVID-19 death count has spiked yet again, but the number of hospitalizations and total cases continue their downward trend. Yesterday’s update from the health department shows 18 more fatalities due to COVID, for a total of 1,075. The number of active COVID cases is down almost 1,000 to 15,406, and the number of residents hospitalized with confirmed cases of coronavirus is down 30 for a total of 109. Rockland state senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick says there’s reason to be optimistic as the Omicron numbers are falling across the state…

And just a reminder, four COVID tests per household are now available for free from the federal government. To get them, if you haven’t already, just go to https://www.covidtests.gov.
