Rockland’s COVID-19 red-zone in Ramapo ticked up slightly yesterday. The state says Tuesday’s positivity rate was 3.63 percent, up from 2.48 percent the day before. The numbers need to go down over a 10-day period AND have a positivity rate below 2% for at least 3 consecutive days after that 10-day period.
South Orangetown Middle School is closed today after a person there tested positive for COVID-19. The building will be disinfected today and classes will resume tomorrow.
The Pearl River Saloon had its liquor license suspended Tuesday for not following COVID-19 restrictions over the Halloween weekend. The Journal News says they got the State Liquor Authority violation notice after patrons were spotted not wearing masks and ordering alcohol without buying food. The restaurant is still offering lunch and dinner service.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, here in Rockland, we’ve got 2 in the hospital being examined, another 22 have been confirmed with coronavirus, and a total of 909 active cases. The state says since the crisis began, we’ve had a total of 18,581 reported cases, 115 more than Wednesday, and the number of deaths in the county since the pandemic began remains at 684.
