Congestion Pricing Gets Another Deadline to Shut Down

April 22, 2025 by Jeff Lewis

Another deadline for congestion pricing after the April 20th date has come and gone and the tolls are still up and running. Gothamist.com reports the Federal Highway Administration is threatening to withhold federal funds if the toll isn’t shut down by May 21st. The governor has said the system is legal and will continue. The MTA and the feds have been in court since federal approval for the tolls was yanked in February. The MTA’s congestion pricing tolls launched on January 5th, charging cars that enter the zone below 60th street $9.
