Clarkstown Designated a “Clean Energy Community” by NYS Energy Research & Development Agency

October 5, 2021 by Jeff Lewis

The town of Clarkstown has been designated a “Clean Energy Community” by the New York State Energy Research & Development Agency. At a press conference last week at Town Hall, Hudson Valley Regional Council Clean Energy Communities Coordinator Carla Castillo said several high-impact initiatives qualified Clarkstown for the designation…

Supervisor George Hoehmann said the designation comes with $5,000 and potentially $30,000 more to spend on future green projects, one of which is to get rid of older cars in their fleet and replace them with electric vehicles…

Rockland Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski, also a Clarkstown resident, said the designation demonstrates Clarkstown and the State of New York are providing the leadership that the rest of the nation should emulate…

The town also has electric vehicle charging stations at town hall and they’re looking to add more around town, and they have a giant solar panel field on its capped landfill in West Nyack.
