A Hudson Valley state senator is looking to boost voter participation by moving local elections to even-numbered years so they coincide with national elections. Orange County State Senator James Skoufis was on Saturday’s “Tough Times with Lou Young” here on WRCR, and said different versions of the bill have been kicked around Albany for the last decade…
The bill would apply to town and county elections across the state, but not county sheriffs, clerks, district attorneys, and judges. Cities and villages are also not affected by this bill. The Assembly also passed a version of the bill earlier this month. Skoufis says the governor has not publicly committed her support for the bill. “Tough Times with Lou Young” can be heard here on WRCR Saturday afternoons from 1-3.
