Bill to Give NY EMS Volunteers and Firefighters Tax Breaks Waiting for Gov’s Signature

August 19, 2022 by Jeff Lewis

New York’s governor has yet to sign a bill that would give local municipalities the chance to give local volunteer EMS and firefighters a break on property taxes. The move is designed to be an incentive to keep volunteers from moving to other states that are easier on the pocketbook. Orangetown supervisor Teresa Kenny says her town is sure to opt-in to the plan once the bill is signed…

Rockland’s state senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick says he’s not too concerned that the governor has yet to sign the bill…

If you’re concerned, contact the governor’s office to encourage her to sign the bill. The number is 1-518-474-8390. You can also fill out this online form.
