Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny said the town was left with no choice but to go to court…
Orangetown and Rockland’s Department of Health secured temporary restraining orders against the hotel and noted the hotel’s permit to operate expired at the end of last month. Social Services Commissioner Joan Silvestri said without state or federal funds, the county can’t help those without legal status…
Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco told “The Morning Show” Wednesday he has deputies patrolling the hotel to make sure laws aren’t broken…
Day suggested other hotels in Rockland may be targeted to house the men. Every hotel’s been told of the executive order prohibiting them from being used as a homeless shelter. Governor Kathy Hochul meanwhile said the State of Emergency orders issued by Day and Orange County may be unconstitutional. Mayor Adams also yesterday signed an executive order to temporarily ease housing requirements for homeless families seeking shelter in the city. News 12 said Neuhaus was expected to speak today with Adams and Hochul about the crisis.
