Avon announced yesterday the company is closing its Suffern R&D operation and moving to Brazil and Poland. In a statement, Avon’s CEO said the move would give the company a larger pool of partners to create their product lines. Suffern Mayor Michael Curley told The Journal News that layoffs are expected to begin in March 2023, with the Suffern facility closing for good in 2024. The company first made Suffern its home in 1897. While it once employed around 15-hundred people, today it has just 160 employees in Suffern.
