As Calls for Governor to Resign Persist, Area Lawmakers Reflect on Experience with NY’s Second-in-Command

April 1, 2021 by helpdesk1

The calls for Governor Andrew Cuomo to step down persist. Controversies over COVID testing, the nursing home orders, and sexual misconduct accusations aren’t going away. And waiting in the wings, just in case, is Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul. Rockland state senator, Democrat Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, says he’s met her more than he’s interacted with the governor…

Stony Point and Orange County assemblyman, Republican Colin Schmitt, says he’s also more familiar with the state’s second-in-command…

Hochul previously served as Clerk for Erie County and was a one-term congressional representative for the Buffalo region, before running with Cuomo in 2014. Cuomo has denied the accusations being made against him and has insisted he is not resigning.
