Area Lawmakers Weigh-in on NY’s New Governor’s First Weeks in Office

An area state lawmaker isn’t thrilled with the new governor’s direction, calling it more of the same as the previous administration. Western Ramapo and Orange County Assemblyman Karl Brabenec, a Republican, says governor Kathy Hochul has a different style of leadership, but she was still part of former governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration…

But Rockland state senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, a Democrat, thinks Governor Kathy Hochul will be more of a partner with the Legislature than an adversary…

And that was Orangetown supervisor, Republican Teresa Kenny. Hochul became governor when Cuomo stepped down facing several investigations and potential criminal charges.
