Area lawmakers are pleading with the governor to give some direction to area businesses that were supposed to open in phase four but have since been pushed out without explanation. Alice Lenna is the owner of New City Bowl & Batting Cages and at a press conference there yesterday said a national bowling organization came up with a thorough plan to keep customers and employees safe from COVID-19 in their large facilities…
Lenna said after cutting expenses she’s been paying over 40-thousand dollars a month since mid-March to stay closed. She’s concerned other bowling centers and other companies who were told they’d be able to open in phase four will have trouble hanging on with no direction from the governor. Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski, who celebrated his 30th birthday at New City Bowl, said the state has to give them, gyms, movie theaters and others some direction…
Legislature minority leader Lon Hofstein said he tried early on to be part of the process, but he wasn’t allowed to participate in conference calls with the state regarding re-opening planning…
Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann said despite Lenna’s own struggles, as a member of the chamber of commerce, she has selflessly helped other companies get back on track…
For Lenna, the goal is just to get back to business…
Lenna is hoping to open on or before August 8th, which is national bowling day.
