Area Lawmaker: Still Legislative Work to be Done

With the state government grappling with the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, the legislature is unable to be in session physically at the state capital in Albany. Rockland and Westchester state senator David Carlucci says work still has to get done…

Earlier this month the Legislature passed the $177 billion budget, though the New York Times says the state is expecting at least $10 billion less in tax revenue. Also unclear yet is the exact fate of the criminal justice reform package that became law January first. It has been reported that a few crimes have been crossed off the no-bail list and judges have been given more discretion, though new discovery rules apparently still remain.
