Area Broadway Producer Says it Could Be Next Summer Before Shows Return

Broadway shows have officially been closed until January 3rd of next year, but one area producer says it could be longer than that. WRCR’s Market Analyst Ken Mahoney of Mahoney Asset Management in Chestnut Ridge has also produced, and won Tony Awards for, Pippen and Porgy & Bess, among others. Mahoney says tourism is critical to the industry, and he predicts it may take at least six months longer than that…

The theater industry is one of the city’s largest economic engines. Deadline says the initial month-long shutdown alone in March probably lost near $100 million.
