Airmont Keeps its Full-time Fire Inspector, for Now

April 17, 2019 by helpdesk1

Airmont still has its full-time fire inspector…for now, at least. The board split 3-2 Monday night on a whether to eliminate the position and eventually contract out fire inspection services to the town of Ramapo. Prior to the vote, Airmont’s former part-time inspector Kim Weppler said eliminating the full-time inspector position would be a step backwards…

The village’s new mayor Nathan Bubel and new trustee Brian Downey voted to abolish the position, while trustees Peter Blunnie, Kevin Warbrick and Migdalia Pesante, who won a seat on the board with mayor Bubel and trustee Downey last month, voted against it. The issue could come up again at the next scheduled meeting in May.
