The village of Airmont amended or repealed several laws Monday night that members of the Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish communities felt were discriminatory. The changes included revising the weekend noise laws regarding property maintenance, limiting the use of power tools, revising rules for non-car uses for garages and, Trustee Shimon Moses says, ending a controversial ban on overnight street parking during the summer and autumn months…
The board also got rid of prohibitions on using snowblowers and snowplows. During the virtual meeting the board declined to remove Deputy Mayor Brian Downey, who’s been charged with possessing unregistered rifles, shotguns, weapons parts, and fake law enforcement badges.
