HNA Project in Palisades to Potentially Add Hundred More Townhomes Than Originally Proposed

June 21, 2024 by Jeff Lewis

Delays in plans to re-develop a former conference center in Orangetown could end up making it much different than originally proposed. Plans for the 106-acre parcel sandwiched between Routes 9W and 340 in Palisades that housed the former IBM conference Center, most recently known as HNA, was originally going to feature an updated hotel and conference center, event space, a farm, and between 30 and 40 townhouses. The town board voted unanimously Friday to amend a “memorandum of understanding” giving the California-based developer, REVEIL, the chance to build nearly ten times that number of town homes. Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny says delays in the project were not their fault…

Residents spoke out at last week’s town board meeting about the project…

The first project under the plan would be the rehabilitation of the hotel on the site. A deal to sell the property years ago fell through, causing it to be shuttered during the pandemic, and it’s been rotting away ever since.
