Millions in grants from the Department of Homeland Security will be used to strengthen security at nearly two dozen Jewish schools, synagogues and community centers in Rockland and Westchester counties. Congresswoman Nita Lowey secured the grants following last December’s machete attack in Monsey at a Hanukkah party. The more than 2.5 million dollars in funding will be used for security or emergency planning expenses, and for acquiring and installing security equipment.
