Rockland’s GOP County Executive Calls on Party’s Presidential and VP Candidates to Apologize for Haiti “Cats and Dogs” Comments

September 23, 2024 by Jeff Lewis

Rockland’s top Republican is calling on his party’s candidates for president and vice-president to apologize for the comments and unfounded “eating cast-and-dogs” rumors they have been spreading about the Haitian community in Springfield, Ohio. The accusations have been echoing loudly in the Spring Valley community where there is a large Haitian population. Rockland County Executive Ed Day told “The Morning Show” Friday that would be the right thing for Ohio senator JD Vance to do…

Florence Pierre-Pierre is the President of the Hudson Valley Haitian American Nurses Association, and at a press conference last week she said that the comments have put the lives of an entire innocent population in danger…

Meanwhile, in Springfield itself, The Guardian reports business has been brisk at a local Creole restaurant, and residents have been showing increased support for the Haitian community with increased volunteerism and donations for local organizations.
