Passions are high as sentencing day comes tomorrow for two rabbis who pleaded guilty to starting the fatal blaze that killed volunteer firefighter Jared Lloyd and a resident of the Evergreen Adult Home in Spring Valley more than two years ago. Nathaniel and Aaron Sommer were promised no jail time in their plea deals with Rockland’s District Attorney Tom Walsh, and tomorrow they’ll face the judge to hear their fate. Frank Voce of Congers is a vice-president in the Rockland County Volunteer Firefighters’ Association. On Friday’s “Who Wants to Be A Volunteer” program, Voce urged supporters of Rockland’s volunteer firefighters to come out and show support at the Rockland County Courthouse tomorrow…
Last night, the street where the Columbian Engine Co. #1 in Spring Valley is located, West Street, was dedicated in Lloyd’s memory and renamed as “Jared C. Lloyd Way.” 79 year-old Oliver Hueston, a resident of the home, also died in the blaze.
