Rockland is among several Hudson Valley counties getting a new area code. Say hello to “329,” the newest three digits to precede the next batch of numbers that get assigned for mobile or land-line phones. The New York State Department of Public Service says the 329 will also be added to new phone lines in Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester Counties starting March 24th. The new area code is needed to help meet strong demand for telecommunication services.
