The New York State Thruway Authority needs more money to maintain its crumbling infrastructure, but before they can raise tolls on the Tappan Zee Bridge and elsewhere, they’ll be holding a public hearing in Rockland later this afternoon, the only one scheduled to be held locally on the subject. Thruway officials late last year approved a plan that would raise the New York EZ-Pass toll on the Tappan Zee 50 cents a year for four years, up from the current $5.75 to $7.75 in 2027. If you have an out-of-state EZ-Pass tag, or if you pay by mail, you’d be charged $13.56. The meeting is being held this afternoon from 4–7pm at Palisades Center in West Nyack on the fourth floor in the Adler Community Room.
