The mid-Hudson region including Rockland enters phase four today. At first, malls were included in phase four of the state’s reopening plan, but large gathering places, including malls, casinos, gyms, amusement parks and movie theaters, remain closed. Gatherings of up to 50 people will also be allowed.
The New York State Fair in Syracuse has also now fallen victim to COVID. The fair saw a record 1.3 million visitors last year, and was slated to run for 18 days this year, five days longer than usual. The last time the fair was cancelled was during and after World War Two, from 1942 to 1948. It had been scheduled to run August 21st to September 7th. It’s already been re-scheduled for August 20th through September 6th next year.
