Rockland Assemblymen Mike Lawler and Colin Schmitt, both Republicans, and State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, a Democrat, all voted against the bill, though it should be noted that none of them will be in their current positions once the new bill takes effect. Republican Assemblyman Karl Brabenec, who covers western Ramapo and portions of Orange County, also came out against the pay raise. Meanwhile, Assemblyman Schmitt, a Sergeant in the Army National Guard, will be spending the last few days of his term in the western part of the state, helping out in Buffalo, which has been buried by several feet of snow.
