The Rockland Health Department is warning of increased rodent activity and more aggressive behavior by rats who have been looking for alternative sources of food during the COVID-19 shutdown. They say they’ve seen an increase in the rodent populations in residential neighborhoods. There’s no evidence rodents can be infected with COVID-19 or spread it to people, but they are a public health risk and could spread other diseases. For more information, click here.
New York State has investigated 240 cases of the Kawasaki Disease-like syndrome that was seen in children early on in the COVID crisis and published their study in the New England Journal of Medicine last month. COVID-19 by the numbers now, in Rockland, we’ve got 12 in the hospital being checked out, another 4 have been confirmed with coronavirus. The state says we’ve got 13,841 reported cases, 11 more than yesterday, and the Rockland Health Department confirms 674 fatalities here in the county, the first since last Thursday.
