Rockland’s long-time Republican Party chairman passed away on Thursday. Vincent Reda served as the head of the County GOP from 1992 to 2014. Born in the Bronx, Reda served in the U.S. Naval reserves and then in the Navy as a member of the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT), also known as “the frogmen.” His began his political career began when he joined the Young Republican Club at Fordham University. Visitation is being held tomorrow from 3 to 7pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Burial will be Wednesday at 10am at the Church of St. Augustine in New City. Reda died just two weeks shy of his birthday at the age of 88.
