In Spring Valley, the police department’s detective bureau is investigating the circumstances surrounding a man who was found dead on Madison Avenue near the Post Office. Published reports said the 59-year-old man was believed to have been homeless. Police told DailyVoice.com the man’s death does not appear to be suspicious.

Rockland’s County Executive Approves 2020 Budget with 2.9% Property Tax Increase and Pay Raises
Rockland’s county executive says residents will get to have their say on proposed raises for various elected and county officials, including himself, before they become official. The legislature approved the pay hikes when they adopted the budget by a 15-2 vote last week. County Executive Ed Day says the raises shouldn’t overshadow the other parts of the $730 million spending plan that got approved and he signed on Friday…
The $730 million budget is under the NYS property tax cap and calls for a 2.9% property tax increase. The county executive says that comes out to about $36 more a year for the average household. A public hearing on the raises is scheduled for December 17th.
Rockland Food Pantry Seeks More Donations After President Cuts SNAP Benefits

Actor René Auberjonois, Formerly of Rockland, Dies
An actor who lived in Rockland, known for his roles on the TV shows Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Benson, and the 1976 remake of King Kong, died yesterday of lung cancer. René Auberjonois also played Father John Mulcahy in the film MASH. He was 79.
