The village of Nyack has enacted a temporary ban on gas-powered leaf blowers through the end of June. The village says the move was made to help keep the days quiet as students and employees work from home. Nyack has a reputation for enthusiastic and strict enforcement when it comes to parking, but the village says the pandemic has limited their enforcement resources, so they hope to educate residents and landscapers and work toward compliance.

The New York Blood Center is in desperate need for blood donations. There are few blood drives, but they are hoping people can make appointments at their local blood center. Rockland County executive Ed Day says their Nanuet location by Routes 304 and 59 can take you by appointment…

Wesley Hills Car Accident Victim ID’d
The 56 year-old Wesley Hills man killed last week in a crash on Grandview Avenue just west of Union Road has been identified. Erol Belizaire died in the single-car accident. Ramapo Police say he was the only occupant in the car at the time.
Rockland Goes 24 Hours with no New COVID-19 Deaths Reported, First Time in Two Months
For the first time in two months Rockland County has not had a new coronavirus-related fatality to report. That means the last 24 hours, as of yesterday afternoon, no one died from COVID-19 here in the county, the number stands at 611. Other coronavirus numbers now, the state has confirmed around 353,000 total cases of coronavirus across the state and 22,800 deaths. In Rockland, the state says we’ve got almost 12,800 reported cases.
Now in Effect, NY’s Ban on Flavored E-cigs and Tobacco Purchases in Pharmacies
New York’s ban on flavored e-cigarettes and tobacco purchases in pharmacies is now in effect. The ban was included in the state budget adopted early last month. Vaping advocates have said the outright ban is unfair to adults who prefer the flavored e-cigarettes.
