New York has added a number of new states to the quarantine list. Travelers from Alaska, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Virginia and Washington will now be required to quarantine for 14 days. Minnesota has been removed from the original list, there’s a total now of 31 states on the list. COVID-19 by the numbers now, in Rockland, we’ve got 6 in the hospital being checked out, another 6 have been confirmed with coronavirus. The state says we’ve got 13,806 reported cases, 8 more than yesterday, and the Rockland Health Department confirms 672 fatalities here in the county, no change since Monday.

Ramapo Town Hall is also open as a cooling center from 9 to 5. Check with your town or village to see what cooling center options there may be for you. The county’s facilities aren’t open but they have “Stay Cool” tips on their website. O&R suggests closing curtains and shades to block out the sun during the day, and they remind you to turn off your air conditioning while you’re away or at work to help lower your energy bill.

Last week the governor said restaurants are not permitted to serve just alcohol, they have to also serve food. The theory goes that if people sit down and have a meal with their alcohol, they’re more likely to be responsible and obey social distancing and mask regulations, and less likely to break open container laws.

Thruway Accident in Tuxedo Results in Fatality
Details are still sketchy, but an early-morning accident yesterday on the Thruway in the Tuxedo area between a car and a tractor-trailer resulted in a fatality. Published reports say the car wound up underneath the truck. The northbound lanes of the highway were closed near Harriman following the accident.
