Clarkstown Police say a 50 year-old West Nyack man was found dead at the track at Clarkstown High School South Sunday morning. Police were called around 1 AM by the unidentified man’s wife. He had left their home at 8:30 Saturday night to jog around the track. Clarkstown patrol units found the man unresponsive, on the side of the track. Rockland Paramedics pronounced the man deceased. The man’s body was taken by the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation into this incident is ongoing but police say nothing at this point reveals any signs of foul play.

Man Rescued After Falling off Jet Ski in Hudson River
A Rockland man was rescued Friday afternoon after he fell off his jet ski into the Hudson River. Published reports said the 56 year-old man, who was not identified, was wearing a personal flotation device but was struggling against the current and extremely fatigued. Marine Unit officers brought him back to a Rockland marina and EMS took care of him on-shore.
Report: Clarkstown Highway Superintendent Defends Son’s Hiring
Clarkstown’s highway superintendent is defending his son’s hiring by the department. The Journal News reports Frank DiZenzo ‘s son, Frank DiZenzo Jr., was hired full-time last month as a motor equipment operator. DiZenzo has been with the department for 36 years and can hire employees without consulting the Town Board, though the town’s ethics code prevents municipal officers from participating in any decision to appoint, hire, promote or supervise a relative. The superintendent said he didn’t participate in his son’s interview process and doesn’t directly supervise him. DiZenzo is retiring when his current term ends in January.
BOCES Teacher’s Aide Sentenced to Three Years’ Probation on Gun Charge
The former BOCES teacher’s aide who brought a loaded gun to the Kaplan School in West Nyack last year has been sentenced to three years’ probation. 24 year-old Gillian Jeffords of Warwick had brought a handbag to the school, in which a black Ruger 9mm handgun was found with four loaded magazines and 14 rounds of hollow-point bullets. It is illegal in New York to have a gun on school property.
