If you go to an AMC theater you may be able to pay a lower price for the seats right up front, or more for the sweet seats in the center middle. On Monday, AMC launched “Sightline” at select theaters in New York, Chicago, and Kansas City. The three-tier ticketing system offers the cheap seats in the front row, a higher price for the highly desired middle seats, and standard pricing for the rest. WRCR market analyst Ken Mahoney of Mahoney Asset Management in Chestnut Ridge, says that concept has ruled Broadway and other arenas for years…
Even Frodo Baggins himself, actor Elijah Wood, panned the idea, saying on Twitter that, quote, “The movie theater is and always has been a sacred democratic space for all and this new initiative by AMC Theatres would essentially penalize people for lower income and reward for higher income.”
