This past Earth Day led to a shocking turn of events when a community clean up team found a deceased body in Monroe by Forest and Schunnemunk Roads. According to News 12, the authorities noted the deceased man as being homeless and having a history of alcohol abuse. The authorities are currently trying to notify his family.
In lighter news, this past Sunday the Rotary Club of Clarkstown took advantage of the sunny weather to host a street fair in Congers. We spoke with Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann on Monday and he had this to say about the event. The outdoor events will continue into the summer with summer concerts and New City and Nanuet street fairs.
Nanuet & Beyond, a local community charity, will be hosting a Trivia Night fundraiser for their upcoming scholarship fund on May 10th. Nanuet & Beyond is a small local charity established in 2017 to enhance educational experiences and since its debut has provided over $11,000 in scholarships and donations. Reports: Suffern Man Arrested on Charges of Child Abuse in Orange County
A Suffern man who teaches public school in Queens is accused of sexually abusing a child in South Blooming Grove. Published reports say police are concerned there may be other victims. 43 year-old David Reinoso was arrested Friday and sent to the Orange County jail. Bail was set at $5,000 cash / $15,000 bond / $30,000 partially secured bond. He is reportedly a teacher in Jackson Heights. He faces charges of first-degree sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child. State Police in Middletown ask anyone who may have been a victim or knows of someone who may have been a victim to contact them at 845-344-5300 and reference SJS number 10500508.
Clarkstown Bans Short-Term Rentals of Residential Homes
The Town of Clarkstown voted last Tuesday to ban short-term rentals, less than 29 days, on single, two-family, and multi-family homes, following a shooting incident in New City late January at an Air B&B. Town Supervisor George Hoehmann told “The Morning Show” Monday that the town’s already strong laws controlling short-term rentals needed more teeth…

Several Brooklyn men have been indicted for the New City shooting incident in late January. Rockland’s D.A. said the defendants opened fire on a single-family home that had been rented out. There were several people in the home, but no one was hurt. Law enforcement was able to secure several illegal weapons in the incident.

COVID Numbers in Rockland Holding Steady
COVID numbers are holding pretty steady. Since Monday we’ve seen the total number of deaths in Rockland remain at 1,165. We’ve got seven hospitalized with coronavirus, that’s down two, and the total number of active cases is at 270, that’s down five.
