Cause of Fatal Spring Valley Fire Still Undetermined, Private Funeral Service for Fallen Firefighter Saturday in Pomona

Despite a multi-agency approach that includes the sheriff’s department, the District Attorney, state agencies and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, there’s still no official cause of the blaze that killed two last week at the Evergreen Court Home for Adults in Spring Valley. Chief William McGovern of the State Office of Fire Prevention and Control said they’re looking for all the facts…

McGovern said there’s lots of data to go through, including video to analyze to figure out where the fire started and how it began. Spring Valley Police Detective Matt Galli said the family of the Evergreen resident who died in the blaze won’t be identified publicly…

A private service is being held tomorrow at Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona for firefighter Jared Lloyd, who was killed in last week’s blaze. The ceremony will not be live-streamed. The service will be followed by a funeral procession that will leave the ballpark and go south on Route 45 to Route 59, then to West Street, past the Columbians Engine Company Number One firehouse for a “last call.” It’ll then head west on Maple Avenue, and then north on Route 306 to the Brick Church Cemetery where Lloyd will be buried.
